We can also give emergency fuel and food bank vouchers when needed. We offer a flexible way of delivering our free, confidential and impartial advice.  Most of our advice is delivered by phone but you can get in touch with us by phone, online or in person.

The Bishop’s Stortford Food Bank is here to help anyone in our community who is struggling to feed themselves from day to day. We provide a food and welfare package to last a minimum of three days. We can also offer signposting support to other services if needed. Help with fuel costs is also available. When requesting baby/sanitary/pet food items these are subject to availability and dependent on what is in stock on the day. Please note: deliveries are currently Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.Referrals must be received by 11am .

Better Housing Better Health is a free service, working to help residents living in, or at risk of living in fuel poverty to access free advice and support. All residents experiencing issues with their home energy can access our service - we have a free helpline where our team can give valuable tips on how to stay warm at home, provide financial help for pre-payment meters and small emergency items, as well as help with funding for energy efficiency measures such as insulation and new heating.

EXCHANGE is a place for people to pass on good quality second hand goods they don't need, to people who do need them, free of charge, within Bishops Stortford. We are a community group based at Bishops Stortford Baptist Church. We are open two afternoons a week by appointment. Items currently available: clothing for babies, children and young people, household goods, furniture and white goods. We are able to deliver large items but within 2 miles only. PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. Our suicide prevention helpline, HOPELINE247, is staffed by trained suicide prevention advisers, who work with young people (aged up to 35) – and anybody concerned for a young person – to help keep them safe from suicide. HOPELINE247 is a free and confidential call, text and email service, available 24/7 everyday of the year (including weekends and bank holidays).
