Red Kite: Rape and Sexual Abuse Support

Red Kite Helpline is available for survivors of recent or historic rape or sexual abuse who are resident in Hertfordshire and West Essex. Our Recovery Service will provide therapy through a variety of means, whether one-to-one or in groups, tailoring in depth holistic therapy to the needs of each caller. We provide comprehensive services to enable you to recover and thrive once more in the community. All Red Kite services are free.

• Red Kite will provide counselling (free at the point of contact) where appropriate to enable survivors to learn new coping strategies, to manage their everyday lives and responsibilities, and to heal enough to live full, happier lives in their communities. 
• Our helpline is operated by volunteers who have been through 8 weeks of training and assessments. The Helpline has live volunteers from 8pm-10pm 7 days per week and from 3-4pm two afternoons per week. Outside of those hours the service user can leave a voicemail message and we will call them back within 24 hours.
• From September 2024, thanks to National Lottery funding, we will be running 2 Thrive groups. These will be recovery focused and deliver education for up to 12 participants for 10 weeks. The groups will be delivered by two qualified, experienced, registered and trauma informed therapists. Graduates from these groups will be encouraged to form Thrivers Groups in their own areas which are self-supporting and provide light touch support and a listening ear to people.
