Hertfordshire Libraries
Hertfordshire's libraries are places where you can connect with your local community as well as explore innovative technology. The vibrant, welcoming buildings are gateways to discover information and learning and experience reading, art and culture as well as improve your health and wellbeing.
- Membership is free for people of all ages, and every library has a wide range of stock – everything from books and audiobooks to magazines and newspapers. There are public PCs, printing facilities and free WiFi, plus lots of regular and one-off events for both children and adults to enjoy.
- To discover all the exciting services and events available, visit Hertfordshire Libraries or call 0300 123 4049.
- All our libraries provide a warm space and a place for everyone so if you're feeling chilly at home, you'll always be welcome. We can't always promise a cool space in the summer as some of our buildings are older and do not have air conditioning, but we can guarantee and fun and free reading experience for children with our annual Summer Reading Challenge.
- At Waltham Cross Library, you can enjoy our regular Baby Rhyme Time (Wednesdays, 10am and 11am) and Storytime (Fridays, 11-11.30am) sessions, and our Board Games Club just for adults (every other Friday, 2-3.15pm). No need to book, just pop in - we'll be delighted to see you. Or simply join us to read the papers, peruse a book or have a chat. A warm welcome awaits.
- At Hertford library, we offer Baby Rhyme Time (Mondays 10am-11am, free); Lego Club (Tuesdays 4:15 to 5:15, tickets are £3.00 per child and children need to be aged 8 – 12); Toddler Tales (Thursdays 10:30, free). Thursday afternoons are our official warm space afternoon, where you can play games and in the New Year we hope to provide refreshments.
- At Cheshunt library, we offer: 2 Baby Rhyme Times on a Monday morning 10-10.30am and 11-11.30am (free but booking required on Eventbrite) , Tea for Tuesday 11-1 pm (every Tuesday free tea, coffee and biscuits whilst completing a puzzle, reading or having a chat with us), Board Games for adults 2pm every Thursday (join in the games – free tea and coffee), and on a Saturday a Story Time 11am- 11.30 (stories, rhymes and a short craft or colouring activity aimed at 18months -5 year olds).
