EHDC: Housing Options

The Housing Options Team are here to provide free information, assistance and housing advice to residents of East Herts to help keep you in your home or to help you find an alternative. If you need housing advice because you are homeless or threatened with homelessness please complete an online referral to the Housing Options Service via link below and a member of the team will call you back:

Joining the Council’s Housing Register - We  maintain a Housing Needs Register for households that cannot afford to buy or rent in the private market and need affordable rented housing provided by registered providers operating in the district.   The application is via the following link  Applications to housing register

Who can use this service?

If you are aged 18 you can apply to join the Housing Register provided:

  • You are not ineligible for an allocation of social housing due to your immigrations status; and
  • You do not have an annual gross household income of £60,000 or more; and
  • You are not disqualified as a result of unacceptable behaviour; and
  • You are not disqualified as a result of housing related debts
